Been gathering my usual sources for inspiration and rounded up some videos I thought made my gears turn the most.

MGMT - All We Ever Wanted Was Everything.
An amazing animated video with some really nice type and amazing layer work.

Destino
A Short collaborate between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali. Makes me wonder if I will ever get this far into defining my own style.

Daryl Hall and Chromeo - I Can't Go For That
An amazing collaboration between Canadian electronic/funk group Chromeo and Daryl Hall of "Hall and Oates".

Currently working on some titling work for an indie short titled "Just Desserts". Still in preproduction planning, but I'm hoping to draw inspiration from Saul Bass (thanks Eddie). He was definitely a pioneer for his time for early motion/kinetic work.

Project X.. Mas

After a short hiatus, I bring back with me "Project X..Mas" in it's completion. It was Jess' Christmas present this year and a kinetic typography of the hit single "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by The Beach Boys. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Art by Mike Joos

Illustrations by Mike Joos. He seems to have a reoccurring theme of bicycles and Star Wars. I can dig it. Check out his Etsy shop for more.

These pictures remind me of summer time. Can't wait to get some biking in this vacation.

A break from school work.

So I've been busy these past couple of weeks wrapping up some projects both out and inside of school. I just finished what was probably one of my most tedious jobs I have ever done, and did my first sound mix for my film group's project. It felt good to try something else outside of the visual editing range. I've done some small audio editing work before, but I never did a project where I was fully designated to work on sound.

My final consensus: sound is a lot funner than I thought it'd be.

I haven't slept much these past 2 weeks and I've grown accustomed to pushing myself awake with coffee when it comes to project deadlines. I've grown to like that feeling. It feels amazing when you're dead tired and inspiration in a combination with caffeine wakes you up.

I saw a quote which seems to stick in my mind about not sleeping not too long ago:
“I was doing some research on 50 Cent and he said when he wasn’t doing the movie he was doing the soundtrack. They said, when do you sleep 50? He said, “Sleep? Sleep is for those people who are broke.”

As for returning to personal projects, today I'll be utilizing what short time I have to work on "Project X" and then spending the closing hours of the night to work on a study guide for a test tomorrow.

Oh, and I'm simply in love with this video, especially since Megaupload is my middleman for delivery to clientele. Apparently there has been this whole issue with Megaupload and the government due to them harboring illegal music and movies and I just find it great that they made a song from short interviews and songs from famous artists and celebrities, and to top that, an even cooler motion graphics video.

Tinie Tempah

While working on some compositing for a fellow film group early in the morning, I received an email from Jabari Johnson, a connection who's helped me start my freelance career, concerning a new job in January. Jabari has been traveling the UK with hip-hop star Tinie Tempah, documenting his recent tour and has asked me to sign on with him and his crew to do some motion graphics for their feature documentary.

What's even better news is that the job won't start until late January, giving me ample time to enjoy my Christmas vacation and give me a break from my last 72 hour editing extravaganza.

Have an amazing Tuesday everyone!

Project "For Flow" Completed!

This project is probably a milestone for me and my motion graphics/compositing career. I'll be credited under "Visual Effects" and the project will be shown on HBO in February. For the first time in my editing career I decided to log my times and in the past 2 weeks have clocked myself at 72 hours in completing the project. At the time it didn't seem so much, but I'm glad I know I have the capacity to hold down a project like that solo.

I've honestly been so dedicated to this last project that I've actually had dreams about it ruining my social life. I feel so at peace right now.

There's still much to do before the semester ends. I have to mix some sound for my class' film, and a small compositing gig for one more group. I also have Project X to finish. With all that said, I don't think I'll be taking anymore freelance jobs until next year. I need some time off to be with friends and loved ones.

This song, so far, is probably my favorite song off Nujabes' latest and final album. It describes perfectly how I feel right now. He's probably the only artist I've felt in shock when hearing of his passing, and only wish the world could have heard so much more from him.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Star Wars Thanksgiving from photo journalist Stephen Hayford.

"With the exception of one image, I've always focused my Thanksgiving photos on the feast," says Hayford. "This year I decided to look at the activity leading up to the meal. Han attempts to win over Leia by demonstrating his usefulness in the kitchen, while joking with his helper. Chewie celebrates a nuna-ball goal while Ben feels as though millions of voices screamed out in terror and suddenly didn't cover the point spread. Artoo plays the role of a curious child checking out meal preparation (he's also wondering when he can get a swig of that motor oil on the counter). I downplayed Luke this year, letting him fall out of focus as he sets the table with a new friend (and he clearly is too short to be a stormtrooper). And for the curious, the other nondescript character seen in the back between Han and Leia is Governor Tarkin bringing in extra folding chairs.""

Swamped

It's Thanksgiving weekend and I'm becoming buried under work.

I landed a compositing gig digitally removing logos from a short film titled "For Flow". It's 18 minutes long, and this is my first freelance job which was not a type project, but I'm happy I'm doing something new. This job isn't that hard, it's just extremely time consuming. At first I rotoscoped the first 12 seconds of the project then realized that I'd have to do over 20,000 frames individually so I've started experimenting with other workflows.

So far I've clocked in 9 hours of work today, and have done about 1 minute's worth of footage. I just stopped because my eyes can't even distinguish my masks from the footage. I should be speeding up my sessions, or else I'm going to have to lose some sleep to finish before its due date of the 3rd of December. This project will also being airing on HBO, not primetime, of course, but during the wee hours of the morning.

I just finished some ADR work (basically recording voice overs and dubs) for my class' short film, and I'm about to begin post sound this weekend. I honestly have no idea how to use Protools, or Soundboard, and may even begin editing on Final Cut just to avoid the technical learning curve, but this will only be the case if I find I don't have enough time to finish my freelance job.

Over the past months many people in my film production class began filming and a lot of people from different productions went out and helped each other shoot. Unfortunately for me, I recently discovered how much I kinda dislike production, and didn't help much during other people's shooting days. Luckily for everyone else, I love post production, and have decided to help another group composite out some mistakes for their film for free. I just wanted to exercise more compositing work, and also leap at a chance to use my ability to use After Effects for my film cohort so I can build connections as a post production visual effects guy.

And last, but not least, "Project X". It is a little behind schedule, but none-of-the-less, it's still being worked on with what little free time I have. Maybe I'll be able to finish it during Christmas break.

I haven't started at a computer screen this long since my last major type project. Time to call it a break from editing.

Best Coast, coast to coast.

Great short directed by Drew Barrymore for a series of songs by surf pop band Best Coast.

Thanks, Jeff, for the share.

Feeling a bit like a hippie..

I just finished watching this documentary called "2012: Time for Change". It's out on Netflix right now for streaming and I thought it was pretty interesting. It had its moments where it felt a little "too green", but the message they're trying to put out is a great one.

What interested me the most about this documentary was their explanations of the possibility of the next change in human evolution into a sort of collective consciousness and the prediction of 2012 being a change in a state of mind rather than the physical. The documentary interviews many key people who are pioneering a way to help with this change of consciousness and also involves some interesting interviews from journalist Daniel Pincheback, director David Lynch, Sting, and Ellen page to name a few.

Everything from exploration of nature, human culture, life, capitalism, a short analysis of the human psyche, spirituality, consciousness, and psychedelics as eye openers are discussed.

Also, the animations they use in between interviews are pretty creative and neat looking.

I've also stumbled upon this short animation for Chipotle after watching the film, and I swear to god that I didn't purposely search for it, it found me.

I love Willie Nelson's cover of Coldplay's "The Scientist" and the stop motion work is pretty amazing. Makes me wonder how anyone has patient to do that type of work.

On another note, I'm hoping to get a small gig doing some compositing work. I hope I can freelance my way through college, but I'm still on a job search just to be on the safe side. I'm extremely thankful for my friends who've been brave to try this lifestyle out and even receive positive motivation from them. I'm also really thankful Jess is helping me out by finding jobs for me and resources to help me do this.

Man, I wish there was more time in the days. My mind always seems to be moving around with new ideas I want to try out, or with the yearning to learn something new on After Effects.

Note to self: buy a notebook and start writing down ideas before they escape my thoughts.

FOR EVERYONE THAT USES AFTER EFFECTS

Creativity is essentially a lonely art. It is in reality the ability to reach inside yourself...and drag forth from your very soul an idea.

Inspiration

Before you guys judge me, yes this is a Japanese song with an extremely catchy tune and a girl singer, but the compositing in this is so creative and fun! It's very Tim and Eric-esque. When the chorus comes up and the type is just all over the place I can't help but keep pausing the video on YouTube to analyze that style.

Also the small details put into the transitions and abstract parts are what keep me fascinated. I'm still working mainly with files made digitally in After Effects and hope to implement video footage into my compositions soon to create abstract and weird designs. I hope to do editing like this one day.

On a side note, I just got in contact with an old friend who's been doing a lot of compositing work and has been telling me to learn The Foundry's Nuke, a high end post production/compositing program. I've been looking into Nuke and it's "node system" which is said to be better for much more complex compositing work than Adobe's layer system.

Just looking at that puzzles me, but I'm excited to learn. If it's like any other post production program I've learned, I'll fall in love.

From 12pm.

I've been working on a project in After Effects for almost 10 hours straight. In the process, I've finished watching every single episode of King of the Hill on Netflix.

I'm happy I get to have my weekends open now. I used to worry about doing anything because I had 'x' amount of hours before work and I'd usually feel like I was rushed. Now I can stretch out creatively and give myself ample amount of time to get the creative process going and lasting for quite a while.

And thank god tomorrow is Monday. A new week means a fresh slate.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Exhausted but my mind is still itching.

I just finished the 12 hour shoot. My body feels exhausted and my mind feels a little drained but I'm still getting a creative itch.

I currently have After Effects open and fiddling with "Project X" ideas. It feels good to know that after a long day I'm still willing to work on some of  my own projects for no personal gain; just for fun.

I've read somewhere that After Effects has a mild learning curve, but is extremely hard to master. I really like that idea that it seems almost endless in compositing potential, and makes me wonder if even the programmers who've designed it can fully utilize all its abilities.

I also just recently got a copy of "The Tree of Life" which is directed by Terrence Malick, who's known for being a quite a mystery and a recluse (his last film was in 2005, and before directing "The Thin Red Line" in 1998, his last feature was made 20 years prior). I'm yet to watch the whole thing, but I've heard different reviews from word of mouth and the internet about its non-linear story and gorgeous visuals. I'm yet to see it and might check out the first 5 minutes of it before I go to sleep.

From Wikipedia - "Malick's film chronicles the origins and meaning of life by way of a middle-aged man's childhood memories of his family living in 1950s Texas, interspersed with imagery of the origins of the universe and the inception of life on Earth. After decades in development and missed 2009 and 2010 release dates, the film premiered in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or. The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews for its technical and artistic merits, but there were also polarizing reactions in response to Malick's directorial style and, in particular, the film's fragmented non-linear narrative."

I wish there were more hours of the day and that I didn't have to sleep every 15 hours. There's just so much I want to do and work on.

Long time no post.

Let's pretend as if my last post wasn't in July. Long story short - I've finished that Vanguard typography project for artist Trevor Hall and his song "Brand New Day". Check it out here:

AND, as I was searching for this, I've just found out Vanguard has made an actual music video for him too!

Anyways, I've been basically gone for so long because I took a 2 week trip to the Philippines. I'm currently in my senior year at school and have been busy with various small type projects and my film production class which I'm currently doing sound for. Speaking of film production, I'll be doing my first 12 hour day, 6 to 6, tomorrow morning to do some field recording and later post production audio mixing.

I'm currently recording with a Marantz PMD 660 and an Audio Technica 835b. I got all my equipment from my school's equipment room which is seem to be pretty bad at taking care of equipment. My Marantz came without a shoulder strap so I put my T2i strap to compensate.

As for projects go - I have "Project X" which its due date seems to loom near, "My Simple Project" which is a type project for an underground artist name F.Stokes, and I was recently offered a job to work for EMI again for an artist named Susan Justice. The catch for the new EMI project is that along with it being a type project, I may have to do a visual sync of the chords in the song to the audio.

Oh, and I quit my job at Domino's due to a lack of hours and start doing more freelance. I used to be afraid of not having a job, but I think with the right organizational skills, freelance would be the best way to go.

Okay, off to bed. I'm going to wake up at 5, have coffee and breakfast, and head out for a long 12 hour day. Wish me luck!

Habitual

Every time I do a project, besides listening to the song I have to do the typography to, I always have one song I constantly play when I'm doing clean up work.

This is currently on repeat.

Foster the People - I would do anything for you.

This song makes me feel funky 8D.

Alright, back to work.

"Hey Jude" Infographic

I love this infographic!

Rush

Looks like I'll be working non stop on the Vanguard Records projects until it's due date next week.

I felt I've been procrastinating a little, but this past week totally made up for it.

Nujabes and Shing02 - Luv (Sic) Pt. 4

Snow flakes in January
Heart warm like February,
I wouldn't ordinarily
March to the drum, play a fool like April
May the best dance in a Juno bridal
Power of the will, Julius and Augustus
Aw you know, it's just us
In a new semester, back in September
Boy, I wonder if you still remember

Genius lyrics!

Two Months

I never found my way to saving enough for a Vimeo Plus account, but managed to still upload the project. This has been long overdue for an upload, but I decided shortly after coming back from my vacation to San Francisco that I should finally upload this.

This is a short video of my travels the first 2 months I received my Canon t2i. It's a compilation of a few regular days in my life and a few travels here and there.
I created this project as a means to practice the process of shooting/editing with a DSLR with proxies and using the Apple ProRes codecs for editing with Final Cut Pro. I also used it as a way to practice typography in conjunction with tracking.

I hope you guys enjoy a few days in the life of Joe.

Watch it in HD on Vimeo.

Sorry for the lack of updates..

..but I was busy with a wedding (which was a huge success) and a very much needed vacation to San Francisco.

Anyways, I've received an offer from Vanguard Records to work on a project for upcoming artist Trevor Hall for his song "Brand New Day".

I've decided to take up the project to help fund my new iMac I plan to get Fall this year so I can further expand my editing capabilities that my ever aging 2009 13" MacBook Pro can't handle. Also Apple's new Thunderbolt port is something that really has caught my eye with its transfer rate of 10GBs a second that I can find vital for storing all my raw footage from my DSLR.

Vanguard is an independent record label working with EMI but I'm excited to work with them since they have The Living Sisters under their name. I'm a fan of the group because of vocalist Inara George who is better known for her work in the duo The Bird and the Bee and her solo act and hope I can somehow squeeze some free tickets or a hookup after completion of this project with Vanguard.

My due date is July 13, which is coincidentally a special day for me too so that means I can have a double celebration that day.

P.S. - This doesn't mean I'm putting my other projects to the side. I'll be working simultaneously with the Edward Sharpe project, and the Trevor Hall project so expect updates from my other stuff too.

Quick Update

I haven't been able to post anything lengthy in awhile and I decided to do a quick update.

The Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes project is going pretty well with Jess and I working the first 30 seconds of the song. So far she's been doing much of the graphic work and I've been animating.

I'll post up a screen shot of some of the early work when we get the beginning done.

Now I'm off to work but before that..

I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I love this picture.

Hangover + Helvetica/Jabari Johnson

Over the weekend I got the chance to check out anticipated summer comedy "The Hangover Part II" and the documentary "Helvetica".

The Hangover Part II is one of those movies where you turn your brain off and enjoy. Everything except the location (the sequel takes place in Thailand) is basically a cookie cutter from the first movie. The trio of Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Bradley Cooper have a wild night they barely remember and lose a member of their entourage (this time Helm's fiance's little brother) and they go on a journey to retrace their steps to solve this mystery.

The story was unoriginal, but regardless I thought it was still a movie that had a lot of moments. Zach Galifianakis' style of awkward comedy isn't for everyone, but definitely kept me laughing in the first act until the it slowed down in the second act. Luckily the movie picked up again towards the end but ended with a climax and resolve similar to that of the first one.

I think one of my only gripes with the movie is the decision to drop Heather Graham's character (the stripper Ed Helms falls in love with in the first movie) without an explanation whatsoever and replaces her with an unexplained fiance.

Overall a good sequel that sadly uses the same exact formula of the first movie but still offers some new laughs.

Helvetica is a documentary explaining the history behind the font Helvetica. If you've worked a lot with type or design  you'll really appreciate this documentary and the concept and work behind the engineer of Helvetica.

Believe it or not, Helvetica is probably the most used font in the design world today. It is one of the most visually appealing yet neutral fonts and the transition from the serifs of the 50's to modern day design.

Type fanatics should definitely see this one.

In other news Jabari Johnson, an old friend who helped me get some of my type work out there, seems to be doing some big things lately. I helped create his introduction for his online web series "Jabari Present", a show geared at bringing new artists to the spotlight. He currently has worked with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, and is currently working on a web documentary with upcoming UK hip-hop artist Tinie Tempah.

He's known for breaking into the entertainment business through his use of the internet as his launching point for his career and currently works in digital marketing for Capitol/EMI records.

Here's an article by Black Web 2.0 on his success due the digital world.

Good luck, Jabari!

"Project X"

I have decided to start pre-production on a long term After Effects project called "Project X". I'm currently planning out it's design but will probably be something I'll keep working on for a good couple of months.

Keep an eye out in the far future for this one.

Time to get outta bed soon.

I'm yet to leave my bed and just finished watching the documentary Crips and Bloods: Made in America. I started it up last night before I slept and finished it up this morning.

It's interesting seeing how this whole gang war thing happened from the post civil rights movement and how it all was rooted from racism, broken homes, and the prison industrial complex. Very informative, and I also love the After Effects work they did.

I've also been browsing Erwin Sales' Tumblr. He's an artist and one of my best friends. Here's a typography he did that I'm amazed by. See if you could figure it out.

and this one titled "Mountain Man"

He has some pretty weird stuff, but I guess this is why we get along so well.

On another side note, I've been thinking about repainting my bike sometime soon within the summer. I'm looking to paint it with some deep red or maroon.

This bike caught my eye from a forum not too long ago and I'm just in love with the color scheme give or take less yellow and a different saddle. Slap on a UN SPACY decal and I'll call it done!

I love how this post is a series of unrelated topics. Well, time to start my day!

Little Tokyo random.

Thought I was going to have just a normal Thursday, but thank God for random adventures.

I went to The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Little Tokyo with Jess and checked out the "Art in the Streets" exhibit for a report she had to do. We got there an hour before it closed but good thing it's free every Thursday (what a luck!) and we were able to do a quick lap around the whole thing. I'm definitely coming back and I'm glad its there until August.

Found this in Granada Hills while I was out working. Definitely would not want to be a kitty in that alley.

Free tequila based flan courtesy of the Camarena Tequila Truck (double what luck!). The flavor caught me off guard not because of the tequila but because it was savory and not sweet. It's different but something really worth trying out.

Daikokuya's Speciality Ramen. Definitely one of the better ramen joints out here. My clothes still smell like ramen MMM.

A bachelorette party me and Jess witness come into Little Tokyo's village area sober and leave plastered drunk. They were leaving the same time we were and they sounded like a stampede of drunken horses because of their heels.

I'm enjoying this care free week. I've just been biking everywhere, catching up with old friends, and spending time with people close to me. I don't want to get used to this though, and I feel I need to be working on something.. I'll do that next week.

Hmm, it's already Thursday? Time goes by pretty fast when you don't have much to worry about.

LAX Ride

It's been awhile since I've last posted. I've been super busy with finishing up this semester, which I feel I ended it on an anti-climactic note. It's okay though because what I'm more excited for is to know I'll have mostly, if not all, film related classes next semester instead of GE's. I can't wait to finally be surrounded by people who are in the same field as me and to work on things I'm actually interested in.

Just to catch up on things, I've decided to finish the "Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes" project this Summer seeing as I now have a lot of leisure time. My "February DSLR Project" is at a current crawl until I can fix my mini DVI to HDMI adapter for my display (I broke it and the context of that includes a lot of alcohol. That's as far as I'll tell).

Other than that, I'm going to be messing with other projects that I will probably reveal in the future. Maybe even some super secret projects that I'll have cool code names for like "Project X" or something.

But besides project related stuff, i've decided to take in my free time and bask in a little traveling. My friend Miguel and I decided to take a bike ride to downtown LA, to Venice Beach, then to LAX, and back home, and boy was it quite the adventure.

Here's a couple of shots I took along the journey.

My Mercier Kilo TT.

A scrape I got after trying to wedge between a bus and a driveway.

¡ Muy delicioso Shrimp burrito from La Fiesta Brava, a small ma' and pa' Mexican restaurant that lets you BYOB !

"We're gonna rock down to Electric Avenue!"

View from bike path in Marina Del Rey.

Taxi fleet near LAX.

A cowboy going to China.

Those super cartons on top are XBOX HUGE (you know, like the first Xbox).

It was about a 40 mile bike ride, the longest I've gone on so far.

Let's hope this will turn out to be a good Summer and I hope for the best in Fall '11.

P.S. - I sometimes feel I can't get too personal on this blog since I'm trying to keep it at an even surface. I'm going to start writing like I used to again. Keep an eye out. Oh, and you know you guys know where to look ;3.

Oneday

Uyama Hiroto - Oneday (Prayer for Love and Peace)

Uyama Hiroto comes from Hydeout Productions, the same record company as Nujabes, and it shows. Hiroto is to the sax to what Nujabes was to the flute.

The song was created as a prayer to those affected by the Tohoku region quake that shook Japan earlier this year.

I just wish this song was longer. It's like I can feel there's more to it.

P.S. I wish they can put out more unreleased Nujabes tracks.

Mother's Day/Pan's Lab

Happy belated Mother's Day! I haven't been this full since Christmas.

I think this was the first Mother's Day I actually went out and really did something for my mom. It feels good to see her happy and makes it all worth it even for just one day.

I just went through the whole DVD commentary of "Pan's Labyrinth" for a presentation in my English class, Literature in Film, and I must say, I've come to really appreciate Guillermo Del Toro. The guy is really serious about his directing. Almost everything done in the mise en scene has a purpose. Del Toro even goes as far as to direct actors/actresses by a "Take 3 puffs of your cigarette while taking 7 paces to the mirror.." style of directing.

I believe great directors are those that can properly envision their ideas, even to every piece of blocking. Del Toro is a genius and surgical when it comes to directing.

Another thing I've come to really appreciate/become amazed by was Google Docs. Did you know you can do a live creation of a slide show presentation (just like PowerPoint) with a collective of people online? Fucking technology.

Take me down to Motown!

Thanks, Jeffrey, for this cover of Daft Punk's "Something About Us" by Balance and the Traveling Sounds. You know I love me some good Jazz.

On a side note, I'm missing out on the fight tonight. I'm working 7 to 1 in the morning. Pacquiao fights are one of the only sporting events I actually look forward to watching. I honestly think he's an amazing fighter and an even better sportsman. He's never cocky, always smiling, modest, and the best part is he shuts up other fighters who run their mouthes faster and harder than they can punch.

You also gotta admit you love the post fight commentaries he makes.

I've never missed a Pacquiao fight, but I have a feeling I'll be getting some good tips to help get some mother's day gifts tomorrow, so that should justify it all.

Speaking of mother's day, I feel super nervous. That is all.

2-D Design Class.

Just finished a David Hockney photo collage project for my 2-D design class.

Thank God for 24 hour Kinko's.

..and my hellish week continues with 3 papers, 2 exams, finishing a novel, and a final art project.

Don't you love it when.../Cohort Meeting

Don't you love it when you're going through your music collection and you find a song you never cared to listen to until months/years later only to find it being gold?

This song is "Shook" by Emancipator and was in the "Lightning in a Bottle" commercial in my previous post and I never knew I had this song until now. It uses vocal tracks from Mobb Deep and Icelandic band Sigur Ros, a combo that seems as weird as a maple bacon sundae, but is as good as it tastes.

This kind of music makes me feel like floating away.

The other day I was at my cohort meet for my Film Program and we went through the motions of how my next 4 semesters will be played out. By this time next year I should already be in production of my senior thesis project which has got me even more excited about being in the program.

I also found out that I was among the 48 accepted out of 130 applicants (a 36% acceptance rate). I can't help but stop being modest for once and bask in my pride.

Happy Easter!

Wishing everyone an amazing Easter. I can't wait to feast out!

I'm up for living like a homeless man for 3 days.

I was talking to my friend Patrick when he sent me a link to a music festival called "Lightning in a Bottle" which is going on Memorial Day weekend and I think I'm pretty much sold on going.

Time to start saving!

In other news, I've started up a demo reel which I'm going to use to appeal for editing in my film program. My friend Jay opted for me to appeal seeing as he is highly confident in me taking editing and has decided to talk to some of the department ups.

So far I've been just compiling works I'm proud of and finishing editing my DSLR project. I haven't had some time to work on it over the weekend because of my social life and work, but I'll get around to finishing it this week, i swear!

Oh god, this music festival video gets me excited!

Chantry Flats

Here's a couple of pictures from a hike I took with Jess and her Lab/Chow mix Annie over the weekend at Chantry Flats in Arcadia to Sturtevant Falls and Hermit Falls.

I haven't been hiking since August of last year and it feels good to head out again and take a breather from everything at home.
