Over the weekend I got the chance to check out anticipated summer comedy "
The Hangover Part II" and the documentary
"Helvetica".
The Hangover Part II is one of those movies where you turn your brain off and enjoy. Everything except the location (the sequel takes place in Thailand) is basically a cookie cutter from the first movie. The trio of Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Bradley Cooper have a wild night they barely remember and lose a member of their entourage (this time Helm's fiance's little brother) and they go on a journey to retrace their steps to solve this mystery.
The story was unoriginal, but regardless I thought it was still a movie that had a lot of moments. Zach Galifianakis' style of awkward comedy isn't for everyone, but definitely kept me laughing in the first act until the it slowed down in the second act. Luckily the movie picked up again towards the end but ended with a climax and resolve similar to that of the first one.
I think one of my only gripes with the movie is the decision to drop Heather Graham's character (the stripper Ed Helms falls in love with in the first movie) without an explanation whatsoever and replaces her with an unexplained fiance.
Overall a good sequel that sadly uses the same exact formula of the first movie but still offers some new laughs.
Helvetica is a documentary explaining the history behind the font Helvetica. If you've worked a lot with type or design you'll really appreciate this documentary and the concept and work behind the engineer of Helvetica.
Believe it or not, Helvetica is probably the most used font in the design world today. It is one of the most visually appealing yet neutral fonts and the transition from the serifs of the 50's to modern day design.
Type fanatics should definitely see this one.

Jabari Johnson, an old friend who helped me get some of my type work out there, seems to be doing some big things lately. I helped create his introduction for his online web series "Jabari Present", a show geared at bringing new artists to the spotlight. He currently has worked with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, and is currently working on a web documentary with upcoming UK hip-hop artist Tinie Tempah.
He's known for breaking into the entertainment business through his use of the internet as his launching point for his career and currently works in digital marketing for Capitol/EMI records.
Here's an article by Black Web 2.0 on his success due the digital world.
Good luck, Jabari!
